Spotify is PlayStation exclusive 'for the foreseeable future'

Spotify's first games console application won't always be exclusive to PlayStation, it has been suggested.

The music streaming app, which recently launched on PlayStation Music for PS4 and PS3, can only be accessed via Sony's platforms for the 'foreseeable future'.

"That's to be decided exactly," Sony UK marketing director Murray Pannell told Eurogamer, in regard to how long the exclusivity period will last.

"But certainly for the foreseeable."

He added that the partnership "still means we're in music, but is also the foundation of our music strategy going forward.

"It's going to be really good for us."

PS4 and PS3 users can also use the Spotify iOS or Android app to control music on a console, allowing them to select playlists, skip songs, adjust volume and more.

A PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to use the app, and both Free and Premium accounts are supported.

Two offers are available for new and existing users. Music Unlimited subscribers with accounts active as of March 29 will receive a free two-month Spotify Premium trial, while existing Spotify users who have not tried Spotify Premium will receive one month free.

I don't think it's really needed on consoles.

I find it fine gaming with music blaring in my room rather than through my headset.

I would like it on the one too :/ Maybe then you could easily play games and listen to music at the same exact time :D

PZ7 This is the one thing I want as an app on the xbox one. I already pay for spotify premium, I dont wanna buy the shitty xbox music pass

Same with me I pay for spotify and it would be amazing if it came onto the XB1.
