Xbox Live down: Xbox One and Xbox 360 affected

4.6
The friends list is currently unavailable to view on the Xbox Live home screen, with the Xbox Live Status page also confirming sign in issues on the Xbox 360.

An Xbox statement reads: "Hi Xbox members, are you having difficulties signing in to Xbox Live? Our team is investigating this right now. Thanks for your patience while we get this figured out.

"Are you having issues managing your profile or viewing your Friends' List? Our team is hard at work trying to get these issues fixed right now."

There were several listed issues connected with viewing the online state or activity of friends earlier in the week, with signing into Xbox Live and attempting to make new Xbox Live accounts also proving problematic.

UPDATE - The official Xbox website, which is currently running a sale on Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, is still available to use in the UK, while the majority of reported outages for online services are coming from US Xbox Live customers.

Users on Twitter are also reporting problems with the service in the US, with one fan writing: "Xbox Live Social Services and most of Xbox.com is still down... Wish I had an ETA for when it was back up."

Another tweeted: "Why is @Xbox live matchmaking down so often these days? I don’t get to play that much so it feels like it never works."

Feburary 18 02:55 UPDATE: The Xbox Live Status page currently directs to a runtime error message, a way round this is to view it in incognito mode on Chrome.

Valyriace Billion dollar company can't even keep there own servers up. It's a Joke.

What you said is a joke. If you educated yourself you'd know, Microsoft's servers are secure. There's no data stealing (PS, twice within 3 years). They're hitting Microsoft's Xbox Live Login Server, which is a standalone server that just redirects people to Xbox Live Servers. When that goes down no one can get to the servers. There's no real way to fix it, only make it harder to do. But hackers can be just as good, if not better, than a company's cyber security team.

TH9 part of the reason I'm not a console peasant. PlayStation is just as shitty.

Oh yeah lets go with PC. High prices and just as much if not more technical problems and complications.

I'm just a casual gamer. No need for an over priced gaming rig when I can have a nice PS4 that will play games just the way I like them.

I know right? So expensive, a $400 gaming PC that performs like a $400 console.. It's so expensive. Thank god I went with the cheaper altenative of a PS4 where I have to pay $50 to play online, pay practically double for every game I buy etc. Not to mention, it's sooooo difficult to navigate Windows, which is intergrated into X1 ANYWAY. You're right dude XD

Potion Its getting a tad ridiculous, Xbox just needs to accept the fact that there servers aren't secure and need need to work on them. Lizard squad also needs to grow up.

It's pretty difficult prevent large scale DDoS attacks. Especially when you have a group of people with strong botnets. Microsoft can do all they can but Lizard Squad can get around it.
