PSN Sub Accounts now upgradeable to Master Accounts

PlayStation Network users are now able to convert Sub Accounts to Master Accounts.

Sony Network Entertainment VP Eric Lempel announced the much-requested feature in a post via the PlayStation Blog.

"Starting today, PlayStation Network (PSN) users will gain the ability to upgrade a sub account to a master account," he said on Thursday.

"We're always listening to user feedback, and this is a feature that many of you have asked for. You'll be able to upgrade an account first through the web and later through PlayStation 4."

He went on to confirm: "Your profile will be carried over when upgrading to a master account, along with items like your friends list and Trophies."

Sony has posted instructions on how to carry out the process here.

Maybe PSN should listen to the community and let you be in an offline status. Also, exactly what does this mean? 'Master account' and 'Sub accounts' are foreign to me.

DPM Perhaps they should listen to a lot more feedback, they might then know that there are a lot of people who want to change their PSN ID.

Exactly. I'm happy with my PSN ID but I'm worried that in the future I might want to change it. This is a much needed feature for many people.

Earn This article doesn't really explain what a master account is but from the comments I assume it's where parents can monitor what there children are doing on there accounts through the internet?

It honestly would have been, because any proof of an under 18 using a master account can result in a console ban. Do you know how much better this will be? It's not that I've got a problem with kids or squeaky voices, it's that these terrible parents that let their kids play these games at such a young age should be punished really. But at least these kids can have their consoles banned to teach them a lesson.

I'm sorry, since when did online play require you to be 18+? Idiot........ They will NEVER ban a console just becuase your under 18. Check yourself before you wreck yourself! ;)

They need "sub accounts" on X1, lol. Offline accounts, at the minimum... Either fully XBL a guest, its ridiculous. I'm just gonna convert to Wii U and PC, lol
