GTA San Andreas patch on Steam removes songs and 'breaks save files'

4.6
A new update released for the Steam version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has removed numerous music tracks and allegedly rendered some older save files unusable.

The update went live on Friday and since then players have been reporting issues with the newly patched game.

Although Rockstar did not provide patch notes for the update, GTA fan site Rockstar Nexus has listed the changes it has discovered.

While there are a handful of positive changes including the addition of support for Xinput controllers (like the Xbox 360 controller) and the use of mouse steering by default, other changes that have left fans upset.

Most notable of these is the removal of 17 songs from the game's soundtrack, likely due to licensing reasons.

These are the same 17 songs that do not feature in the recently released Xbox 360 version of the game. They are:

Critical Beatdown
Running Down A Dream
Woman To Woman
You Dropped A Bomb On Me
Yum Yum
Running Away
I Don't Give A f*ck
Express Yourself
Killing in the Name of
Hellraiser
Ring My Bell
Don't Let It Go To Your Head
Express Yourself
Rock Creek Park
Grunt
Soul Power '74
The Payback

As well as this, some users are reporting issues with save files not being read, as well as the removal of some display resolutions. Rather than a direct result of the update, Rockstar Nexus theorises this is the result of Rockstar potentially accidentally basing it on an older version of San Andreas.

San Andreas fans experiencing issues are being directed to the fan-made patch SilentPatch, which fixes the save file and resolution issues but sadly does not reinstate the 17 removed tracks.

They really need to sort out the 360 version first tbh

Rin I have the game on 360, there are a lot of noticeably/annoying glitches.
In southern Los Santos, the frame rate drops dramatically. Sometimes the sound randomly cuts out during a cut scene. Swimming slowly and running out of stamina quickly with it maxed.
I could care less about them removing some songs because it doesn't dramatically change the game play. Overall I'm pretty upset with the remastered version. I even heard they ported the game from mobile devices, like wtf.

Yeah alot of people complaining about the problems.
Hopefully they release a new update for the 360 version.

Human they probably ran into copyright issues about the songs, nothing they could do

Yeah but its kinda sad as the game feels different.

Rockstar never ported them to mobile phones, fans ported GTA series to phones and other devices. A bit like they did with Pokemon. Just feel grateful you didn't buy the XBO version on your 360. That you can't even be connected to XBL and there were a lot more problems than that! It is San Andreas don't forget, a pretty glitchy game

UnD3aD_Stealth they should atleast keep the songs.

If they lost the license to them then they can't.

The license for those songs were bought for San Andreas. So yes, they can, it was a personal choice.

If that had happened then either they wouldn't of been able to release the game in the first place or they would of been sued upon release and it would of been a big story. A bit like Lohan sueing Rockstar is.

My save file has been fine, but the removal of the tracks has really cut a bit of the game.

R3vo The steam version was already terrible because you can't play SAMP with it.
I could always play SAMP through the Steam gtasa, cant now though..
