PS4 sales hit 13.5 million

Worldwide PS4 sales have reached 13.5 million units.

Sony said on Friday that it sold 3.3 million PS4s during its second financial quarter ended September 30, up from 2.7 million in the first quarter.

The company sold 4.5 million PS4 units in the console's opening quarter, and three million in the one after.

PS3 sales totalled 800,000 units during the most recent quarter ended in September, while portable console sales (Vita, PSP and PS TV) came in at 700,000 units, down 100,000 from the same quarter last year.

Sony's Game and Network Services division posted sales of 309.5 billion yen (£1.7b/$2.8b), an 83.2 per cent increase year-on-year, primarily due to the contribution from PS4 hardware sales.

PS4's introduction also helped the division swing from an operating loss of 4.2 billion yen in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year to an operating income of 21.8 billion yen (£122m/$195m).

Results for the company as a whole weren't as positive, with Sony posting a net loss of a136 billion yen (£760m/$1.2b), compared to a loss of 19.6 billion yen in the same period last year.

However, PS4 was cited as a key contributor to a 7.2 per cent year-on-year rise in sales to 1,901.5 billion yen (£10.6b/$17b).

are you a moron sony will win money wise xbox-one is a 500$ system it drop it price to 400$ then drop the price again to 350$ the xbox-one is so garbage they have keep droping the price so stupid ppl can buy it, the specs on PS4 is even way better then xbox-one so even if the system is 50%-same price the PS4 still smart pick + SONY has 90% adults while xbox has 90% children as the community hahaha, i rather play with adult on playstaion then play xbox and deal with kids all day every game & xboners that grew up & went to playstion realized this too.

wat. Is this that old Dualshock3 joke making a come around again? The Dualshock4 controller is wider than the current Xbone controller. I don't get how you can complain about a controller that is "TOO tiny" when in reality you're trying to pretend you were a fan of Sony and suddenly blowing off the controller as being too small yet it's dimensions are slightly larger than those of the Xbones.


exacly xbox-fan boys cant make ecuses no more about the PlayStations controllors no more you kno why cuz THERE THE SAME SIZE N SAME FATNESS if u watch controller compartions on youtube they even proves it puting them size by size then belly to belly they the SAME SIZE n FATNESS so top making excuses about the controllers even the joysticks are now more spread apart for even more comfort. the only diff now is the set op the joysticks/d-pad

It never outsold it, The ps4 has outsold the xbox one for 9-10 months now.


Xbox did outsell the PS4 last month or two months ago, do your research.


lol, the person saying "do your research" doesn't even know how to look at trends and averages. When you look at averages over the sales periods, PS4 is vastly outselling consoles compared to the Xbone. Last month or whenever may have been a fluke but that doesn't mean a new trend is starting. Even Microsoft sees this and has lowed the console prices another $50 for the next 3 months. If the Xbone was projected to start selling better than the PS4 then Microsoft wouldn't of decreased sale prices.
