Minecraft coming to Windows Phone, 'much to do' says dev

4.5
It shouldn't be surprising that not even a month after Microsoft purchased Minecraft developer Mojang, there is word that Minecraft: Pocket Edition will find a new home on the Windows Phone platform. "Yes, Minecraft: Pocket Edition *is* coming to the Windows Phone," tweeted Jens Bergensten, the game's lead developer.

That's good news for Windows Phone owners, but don't get too excited just yet. While the port is in running condition,"there's still much to do before any release," Bergensten wrote. So far, Bergensten has refrained from speculating any release window or target.

I never really play Minecraft on my iPod. It is very boring, mainly, because of the fact that, it's nothing compared to the PC version of the game.

I play on the PC everyday, and I used to play on my iPad, but Pocket Edition was never really that fun. Especially on a phone with the small screen and buttons.

I play Minecraft every so often on my phone. Its fun whenever you have a few minutes to play.

CokaCola Okay now there getting A little ridiculous with this, First the PC then the game systems was fine, But now Phones now its just getting annoying who is really going to get it on the phone, Phones are too small to play this game.

Just because you went out of your way to play minecraft on PC doesn't mean normal people do. Some people like having it when they're bored af, for example me on a plane. I wish the survival was better on ios though, :( creative is lame.

Actually the mobile market for minecraft is quite huge.
Overall, Pocket MC has the most sales of any platform...

"On April 9 2014, Jeb announced that Pocket Edition had sold over 21 million copies (at the time, PC had sold over 14.8 million)."

PC now has about 17 million so you can expect the pocket edition to sell much more too.

TV_Fanatic I like how they star making it right after they bought Minecraft. So basically they just bought it for a phone game.

They bought it because it was worth the money, this is just a bonus.

Not really. They probably couldn't put it on windows phone because they didn't own it, but now they can, so more people can play.

This better not delay the console updates though dammit.
