A new Counter-Strike title featuring zombies as playable characters has been released via Steam.

Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies is the result of a long-running partnership between Valve and developer Nexon. Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies is based on Nexon's Counter-Strike Online, but adds a zombie faction to the existing terrorist and counter terrorist characters, along with both male and female variants.


The game, available via Steam now, is a free-to-play offering billed as an MMOFPS, offering "competitive PvP and PvE action including content from the original Counter-Strike and all new game modes, maps, weapons, and hordes of Zombies", according to the official description.


Valve originally inked a deal with Korean-based Nexon in 2007, for a new online version of the tactical shooter that would be tailored specifically for the Asian gamer.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nexon was to develop and publisher Counter-Strike Online in South Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan.
