Steam Store overhauled with 'Steam Discovery Update'

4.7
Valve has launched a significant update for the Steam Store in an effort to make shopping in its gargantuan games library easier.

Dubbed the 'Steam Discovery Update', the new Steam Store includes a completely new Home page that contains personalized content.

The new Home page offers recommendations based on your previous purchases, playtime and tips from your Steam friends.

Steam Search has been upgraded with new filters to help you sift through the thousands of games on offer. And an all-new feature called 'Curators' allows you to follow others with similar tastes.

"In the past nine months, Steam has added over 1,300 new titles and grown to over 100 million active accounts," says Valve, and the update has been "designed to meet the demands of this growth".

Valve's Alden Kroll commented, "We have made great efforts to increase the number of titles we can publish on Steam, which means more choices for customers.

"This update introduces multiple features and functionality to help customers explore Steam's growing catalog and find the games they are most interested in playing."

This is the latest in a line of frequent updates for Steam, including support for 11 new currencies as announced last week, and new functionality that enables quicker multi-game installs than were previously possible.

Treyarched Didn't know a bout this update until I saw this and looked. One thing I love is steam now marks items you own which really helps when looking through DLC for games like Borderlands 2 which had a s**t load. I got the GOTY edition which included most items but not all and finding the ones I was missing was a pain.

Ya, the update was definitely a smart idea.
