Xbox One controller for Windows announced

4.5
Microsoft has announced it will be releasing a version of the Xbox One controller that will work with PCs out of the box.

The Xbox One Controller + Cable for Windows comprises of an Xbox One controller and a USB cable that allows it to be plugged into a PC.

Other than this, the controller is identical to the standard Xbox One controller and can also be used with the Xbox One console, either wired or wirelessly.

Players who already own an Xbox One do not have to buy this newly released controller in order to play PC games with one.

Instead, they will be able to plug their existing Xbox One controller into their PC with either a micro-USB cable or the Play & Charge cable, after installing the controller's PC drivers.

This newly announced controller, therefore, is mainly aimed at PC gamers who do not own an Xbox One but wish to use its controller for PC gaming. Priced at $59.95, it's listed as "coming soon".

"The Xbox One Controller + Cable for Windows is simple to use, plugging into any available USB slot and updating automatically," Microsoft said on the Xbox news blog.

Prior to the Xbox One's release in 2013, Microsoft told CVG that it would roll out PC drivers in 2014 that would allow Xbox One controllers to install on Windows operating systems. These were then released in June 2014.

Microsoft says it spent $100 million working on the Xbox One controller, in order to perfect elements like the feel of the D-Pad, button travel, and offset joysticks.

PS4's DualShock 4 controller works on Windows, but it requires fan-made drivers for complete support.

Latency Like people who play PC need to have a controller to be good. Use the normal mouse and then call yourself a pro. If you need a controller to play, play on a console.

or if you like the feel of a controller but the gameplay/usage of a computer get it. some games are wayy better with controllers on pcs

or if you play racing games....

I use a keyboard and mouse for everything unless it's easier with controller. (EX Dark Souls, Speedrunners, Any racing game, Any fighting games) Fighting games and racing games play MUCH MUCH better on a controller

That is true. Those kind of games are so much better with controllers.
