Maxis producer: If Sims 4 isn't successful, there's no Sims 5

4.7
EA isn't thinking about the next Sims game at all, but the future of the series hinges on The Sims 4 performing well, Maxis producer Grant Rodiek said on the official Sims forum.

"We're not working on Sims 5," Rodiek said. "We're not thinking about Sims 5. If Sims 4 isn't successful, there won't be a Sims 5." This isn't an absolute credo, however – when another fan asked for clarification on that statement, Rodiek said, "It's not all or nothing, per se, but something has to pay for 5."

The Sims 4 topped the UK charts last week. We've been playing it as an MTV's Real World simulator, with members of the Joystiq staff living together, cooking for each other, working and building rocket ships.

Sims doesn't have that big of a fan base, it wont surprise me if they don't make a Sims 5.

I think it's become a pretty good success already, really enjoyed Sims 3 and might get 4 later on.

It seems every sims game is successful... I will never understand why, but they are.

There will be a Sims 5, 6, 7, 8, and most likely more.

Sims 4 will be a huge success IMO. Everyone and their gran loves Sims games so it's not going to surprise me if Sims 4 has a huge amount of sales.

Loads of people still play Sims, so there is no doubt in my mind there's going to be a Sims 5.

I think Sims 4 has been rather successful.
inb4 they throw out hundreds of DLC as usual.
$$$$

I'm sure that statement was to scare people into buying sims 4 just so there will be a sims 5.
I think even if sims 4 wouldn't do well. They'll still make a fifth.

I have only enjoyed SimCity the last Sims game besides SimCity i played was The Sims 2 on the PS2 and it got boring after a while.

i'm sure loads of people will purchase sims. Even though I find it gets eventually boring. I did like the old island sims games.

I doubt this will fail, plenty of people will buy it anyway. Then they'll come out with DLC and that will sell and there will be another SIMS which hopefully adds stuff to the base game instead of removing.
