Steam update enables quicker multi-game installs

A recent Steam update has added a new UI feature that lets users download multiple Steam games more conveniently.

In an update via the official Steam Database Twitter feed on Tuesday, Valve commented, "Turns out we missed a feature in recent Steam updates. You can now select multiple games and install them in one go!"

The new UI feature, as pictured right, appears to show a list of available downloads, where users can simply check the ones they wish to acquire and set them to download at the same time.

Previously, users would have had to start each download individually via their Library list.

Steam recently hit the 8 million concurrent users milestone for the first time in its history. The achievement was attributed to this year's immensely popular Steam Summer Sale.

The previous highest ever number of concurrent users on the Steam stats page was around 7.5 million, which occurred over the Christmas period in 2013.

At the Steam Dev Days conference in January 2014, Valve announced that Steam had reached a milestone of more than 75 million active users, up 10 million since its previous report in October 2013.

Its growth accelerated over the 2013 holiday season, as the new 75 million figure meant Steam's active user account grew by 15 percent in just three months.

I don't often find myself downloading or installing more than one game at a time on Steam, but I could certainly see how this would be useful for people who build a new system and wish to quickly get all their games back on. This would have been nice when I cloned my OS to a SSD to get my games back quicker.
