Destiny devs nix player-to-player item trades

4.5
In its latest Destiny update, developer Bungie makes it absolutely clear that players will not be able to swap weapons and gear within the open-universe first-person shooter.

A fan asked Bungie if player-to-player trades will be available at Destiny's launch and was met with a succinct denial. "Nope. We want you to earn 'em," Bungie stated. "You should be able to tell a badass story for every sweet jewel in your arsenal." Though trades between players will be lacking from the game, Bungie does note that players can trade items between their own characters. "Once you earn them, the various Guardians under your account will be able to trade them, but weapons belong to the players who acquire them through action and bravery."

If you're now grumbling in frustration, have a look at Sony's official unboxing of the white Destiny PlayStation 4 bundle below the break. It's not a replacement for a proper, player-run economy, but maybe watching the birth of a new gadget will take your mind off of things.

Polygon This sounds good.
I just hope the fix all bugs and try and find as many exploits/glitches they can so make the eco system 10/10

I hope for this as well. I think that Bungie will do a pretty good job at fixing things where exploits will be hard to come by and what not :D

Potion This stinks for us legit players, but anything to stop people who abuse glitches i guess.

Agree.
Just hopefully it'll be good.

No. This is amazing for legit players.

I'm glad people can't trade. Now when people have amazing gear, we know they've earned it and if they have it, they're good at the game. I don't want to play to just see 10 year olds with the best gear in the game with no clue how to play but they got the gear just from begging for it on forums.

Finally someone who has some sort of sense. Games like Destiny keep you occupied with end-game content. If you got to level 20 within a couple weeks and had great gear, what would be your incentive to continue playing? Sure you'd be able to show off for the couple days the game would still be fun, but then what? The point is to keep going to get Motes of Light and in turn get higher-level gear. This is what PvP modes such as the Iron Banner are based around, loot. Hell, Bungie themselves even said Raids were designed to be completed by experienced players who are looking to improve their characters with rares. Implementing a trade system would kill the longevity of the game for a bunch of people, and you really couldn't take pride in your character and show off your gear, because people will always have that doubt of whether or not you traded for what you have.

ImmortalGengar Seems fair! Whats the point in playing if you can get boss weapons right from day 1

I agree. But, I feel like people will abuse this system by modding and what not.

I Agree this sounds good but i think there will be glitches and others sorts of way to exploit this.
