Sony Working on New PS4 and PS3 Video Streaming Application

4.5
Media streaming and applications are still a bit weak on the PS4, and there’s definitely more room for improvement. It seems that Sony is working on it, as revealed by a new career opportunity ad published by SCEE seeking a Web Developer.

Based in Central London, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s (SCEE) R&D Group report into the global R&D division based in Tokyo and provides a range of services that support the development of games on the PlayStation family of products (primarily PlayStation®3, PlayStation®Vita, and PlayStation®4) for both SCEE’s own internal studios and its third party partners throughout Europe and Australasia.

The role involves the implementation of a JavaScript front-end UI for a video streaming application on PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®4.

You will be in a team of JavaScript and C/C++ engineers, and will be responsible for helping implement the web-based Application UI to the specification outlined in the design using SCEE’s own proprietary framework.

No further clues were given about the nature of the application. All we know is that the app will be on both PS4 and PS3, but there are no hint on what kind of purpose it will specifically serve. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait an official announcement to know more.

I don't think they can make an application that will even touch the quality of the good Capture cards that are out now.

vWatsonc Doesn't Xbox one have this for streaming onto Twitch, that would be awesome if they done this for all consoles but it would put the video capture business down :D

Not really, both consoles capture in pretty low quality.
A good capture card still produces a much better image.

This is basically like the application they used for Xbox One
