Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare could spin into new sub-series

Sledgehammer Games would be happy to see Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare serve as the start of a new sub-series for the long-running shooter franchise.

The upcoming title will be Sledgehammer's first major entry in the series. It's also the first product of the new three-team, three-year development cycle for the franchise also led by Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

"We are very focused on finishing Advanced Warfare right now but yeah, [starting a new Advanced Warfare sub-series] would be great," Sledgehammer director of product development Aaron Halon told Trusted Reviews.

Halon said the team loves the idea but the future of the franchise is ultimately up to Activision.

Since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare released in 2007, the game became annualised and split into several sub-series: Modern Warfare, World at War, Black Ops, and most recently Ghosts.

Activision has not yet revealed whether a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts is in development. Either way, the next Infinity Ward-led shooter will likely not arrive until 2016.

The Call of Duty Advanced Warfare release date is November 4 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Advanced Warfare's multiplayer mode will be revealed on August 11 at 6pm BST/7pm CEST/1am EDT/10am PDT.

Who are they kidding they are obviously making a COD ghosts sequel after how the game ended, the huge cliffhanger is too juicy for them to just drop the whole series. I personally couldn't say whether or not a Advanced Warfare series would be good. We just have to play the game and then finish the campaign and that will tell us if it really is worth a new series on it.

He is free to post whatever he wants just like every other user on here. If you feel the need to, report it. Otherwise, hush. As you are doing the same thing as you accuse him of doing if you are wasting a post JUST to say that he is adding to his post count.

Back OT: I feel that the sub series they talk about isn't going to happen, and this very well may be the LAST Call of Duty game. *fingers crossed*

Still play Mw2 and Bo2, not a fan of Ghosts. Hoping Advanced Warfare brings me back. C'mon Sledgehammer.
