Mojang is thinking about custom servers for Minecraft Xbox One

4.7
Mojang is thinking about adding support for player-owned, customisable servers to Minecraft Xbox One, the developer's Daniel Kaplan has told OXM. This would allow players to set up their own online worlds, which invited players could then explore in their absence. The developer says it has yet to put any concrete plans in motion, however.

"On the Xbox servers?" Kaplan began, "We are looking into different solutions, however we don't know when it will work. A lot of people would enjoy that and we have got a lot of questions about it. It would be similar to what we're doing on the PC."

It's possible that the game will allow players to store their worlds on Microsoft's Azure servers (aka, the Xbox Live cloud), but there are obvious difficulties. Minecraft save files soak up more and more storage space as players explore and more terrain is generated - supporting such growth remotely would presumably be a challenge, with thousands of players involved.

If Mojang itself were to offer the servers, there's also the question of how this would sit alongside an Xbox Gold subscription. The developer's Minecraft Realms service is available for a monthly fee. Still, remote world storage remains one of our most-wanted features for the game, which will go on sale this month. If you had a server of your very own, what would you do with it?

Yoplait- Mojang should think about updating xbox 360 version! Us gamers have been waiting forever and for them just to work on the update for Xbox one isn't fair. I wish I could return that game. I hate that they work on something else that just came out then working on our update

The Xbox one version of Minecraft is not even out yet so, and I would also like to add that it did not state anywhere that they are working on this feature at the moment.

Custom servers would be a cool addition and would somewhat make up for how long it has been before the release.

This would be awesome!
I don't own an Xbox One but this feature would be amazing!
It sucks when you start a world with your mates, then the host has to go offline - this would fix all those issues, just jump online when the 'host' is out :D!

Storage could be a problem, but surely if they charged a bit of money for a player to host a server, they could pay for larger storage (not quite sure how it works).

This would be really cool. I can't wait until it comes out on the one, this would make it even more cool.
