Destiny beta opens to all today

4.7
The Destiny beta will be opened up to anyone who wants to play on Thursday afternoon, Bungie has confirmed.

As of 4pm PST, July 24 (12am GMT, July 25), the Destiny beta will be made available to everyone with a compatible console (PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360) and an applicable PSN/Xbox Live account. Xbox players will of course need an Xbox Live Gold subscription, and PS4 players will need to be PS Plus members.

So far, only those who acquired a redeemable code could enter the beta. Codes were originally handed to those who pre-ordered the game, but Bungie, seemingly keen to increase player numbers, has been handing out additional codes via email to PSN subscribers and other channels.

"The Beta has been eye-opening so far. We've watched the world of Destiny come to life. Guardians from every platform have arrived at the Tower from their battles in the wild," said Bungie in the announcement today.

"We have watched your adventures with great interest, and listened to your feedback. Your missions have provided us with volumes of discoveries we can use to prepare for the launch of Destiny in September."

The beta commenced on PlayStation platforms on July 17, and on Xbox consoles on Tuesday. The beta is due to conclude on Sunday, July 27.

A special surprise in the form of an exclusive player Emblem is promised to beta players who play the game on Saturday after 2pm PST.

The Destiny Release date is September 9.

After playing the beta, and knowing what's in store from mission rewards. I can't wait until the full game is released in September. I'll be buying this alongside The Crew and Drivers Club.

So far, instead of bugs, I've noticed more the faults of the AI / how the AI behaves. If you stand behind a doorway at a certain point, they'll continue to try to attack you but only strafing. I was a level 2 when I beat the level 7 challenge. Also, the shotgun special weapon can be shot a lot faster if you sprint after each shot.

(i got it yesterday.)

Yoke Smh Bungie, You made us pre-order the game to get it now you open it to everyone?!

No one made you preorder, and it's been said for all there would be a point for all to play the beta.

Be hapy, more beta players = more bug reports.

I do agree with you, the more players the better, but if they wanted people to find bugs and help fix their game a little better, they could have released the 360 and One beta the same time as they did the Playstation. Doesn't matter though, the game is fun right now.

I expect they opened it to everyone to stress test the servers aswell. So would you rather the beta only be open to people who had pre-ordered and the servers constantly go down and have a few major bugs.... Or the beta be open to everyone and servers not crash on day 1, and have most of the major bugs solved

Oh I have no problem with it being released for everyone (I actually like it a lot because there are tons of people who are clueless in the crucible, hehe) - I just think if they wanted users to find a lot more bugs then they should have released the Xbox One and 360 Beta the same date as they did the Playstation.

Really Enjoy The Game! I Wish That They Didn't Cap The Level Max At 8 For The Beta!

I think making it open beta is a sensible move from Bungie.
It will make a better game in September -
yeah sure the emblem wont be as unique but imagine everyone that played the beta whilst it was closed for a while, they'll all have it so it wont be unique that anyways.

I'm kind of glad they're doing this, servers will be more stable in the future, more bugs will be found(fixing more of them quicker).
+ No more people asking for codes on TTG! XD
(Except for the people who have been living under rocks)

Kixa So what was the ponit on pre ording this?

I expect most people that have pre-ordered the game to get some type of special class to play as or maybe OP gear that is not obtainable in-game

I'm just gonna get the game when the price drops dramatically
