New Start menu leaks in Windows build 9788
We do know that this is still an early build of next generation of Windows and we will have more to report on that tomorrow. So, don't get too caught up in the minor details as there will be other enhancements to the desktop before Threshold is released.
One item about the image that was throwing off users previously is that is says Win 8.1 Pro in the bottom corner. We have spoken to a source close to Microsoft who says that this image appears to be legitimate, and that these builds inside of Microsoft still use this branding, so this is not a big deal.
This build 9788 is said to be floating around the web but has not been properly leaked for all of us to enjoy. Considering that the images are starting to surface at various points across the web, the build will likely leak in the near future.

KonviictedDlCEMedionDlCERamslotsOklahomaCityThunder Great I just bought one windows 8.1 for my new PC that is arriving tomorrow... Does anyone think they will let me upgrade for free?
No, they are no longer supporting windows 8 because they finally realized that it was a waste of time and money, as them there selves even said.
Windows 7 Is loosing support, 8 dosent loose support until 2017
You're all idiots, Windows XP JUST lost support, Windows 7 will be supported until at least 2020 and Windows 8, 2025 at the least.
Actually No, Windows 8 is loosing support, If you have their "private" support it will continue to 2020. Look it up, they discussed it last week.
Why are people so dumb? Windows 8 is NOT losing support, the original 8.1 update is losing support, and there is a new 8.1 update that you are suppose to download for free within 30 days, or else it wont be compatible with your device. You tell people to look it up, but did you even do it? Doubt it, or you just can't read.
If you read after, I meant to say windows 7. I know windows 8 isnt losing support, But if you look it up Windows 7 does lose mainstream support In JAN of 2015

Not too keen on this mainly because I'm not a big fan of the splash screen already so merging it with the start menu will put me off even more

I'm so used to the basic 'start menu' in 8.1 that I wouldn't care if this wasn't implemented. I can't fault 8.1.
