Steam Passes 8 Million Concurrent Users

4.7
If you were to check out Steam’s statistics page, you’d find a real surprise waiting: Steam has finally surpassed 8 million concurrent users as of today

The record breaking amount of users does make sense, as today happens to also be the final day of the Steam Summer sale. For comparison’s sake, here’s the chart for Steam’s active user base shown at Dev Days in January of this year:

Over 1/3 of those are inactive probably and remakes for people that got punished via Battle Eye or VAC.

DeluxeHazard That is an incredible achievement knowing 8 million people are using something they created. Congrats to Steam.

well actually there are 75 million "active" user. Don't know how they determine active but. 8Million is pretty damn good but, I suspect this time next year it will be around if not higher then 10 million

There are 75 million "accounts" but there are always about 7-8 million users on depending on what time it is.

I don't really use Steam because I'm an Xbox gamer, but that's a very impressive amount of concurrent users.

As someone who started playing games on consoles for years and years I switched to a pc around a year or two ago and I realized how much money you waste using a console. Games are overprice, no free updates, a ton of games having a 30FPS lock (Yes there is a difference between 30 and 60), less exclusives, horrendous loading times, and the list never ends. I've converted two or three friends to PC from console and never looked back.
