Advanced Warfare Xbox One resolution is "definitely ahead" of Ghosts

4.7
Ghosts runs at 720p upscaled to 1080p on Xbox One, unlike other versions of the game. Some consider this to be an appalling turn of events. Others think a bit of perspective is in order.

"Yeah, we talked about that around the studio a lot," Condrey admitted, reflecting that hardware transitions are always "super-exciting, because you see the potential of the new hardware platform, what it can enable. And you know that you're going into a period where you have to figure out the how. How do I do all these cool new things? And you have the excitement of the R&D process."

Condrey and the studio's general manager Glen Schofield have experienced "seven or eight" platform transitions in their careers. First year titles create "unique challenges", he went on, but Activision's giving Sledgehammer an extra year to develop the latest Call of Duty has been enormously beneficial.

"The fact that we've had three years to develop our new tech, three years to learn the console has been really exciting. So we're still optimising, but what I can tell you is that we're definitely ahead of where the franchise was last year."

It's claimed that Xbox One's June software development kit update will allow for "tangible and impactful" benefits in terms of resolution, frame rate and other aspects of the experience. Next time I encounter Condrey, I'll ask him for his thoughts on that.

I think it's fine if it's over 720p. We don't really need 1080p in a game like Call of Duty(which is focused on fast-paced multiplayer, and not slow-paced observations like RPGs).

It's nice that they're trying to bump up the resolution and give players a better look, but resolution is the last thing I worry about when contemplating buying the game. Minecraft is a perfect example. If a game is good, it's good.

GossipPosted:

Its a newer game obviously its gonna look better than last years.

I honestly don't see why it matter what resolution the game is. As long as it's 720p and up I'm fine with it. When I'm playing a game I don't contemplate what the resolution is.

vWatsonc I heard somewhere that your eyes can only see 720p but I find 1080p is much more sharper !

Where did you hear that? That would mean all 4K is pointless.

I am gonna be getting this game for pc so if they are more focused on console again I am gonna be quite angry...

*cough* well don't release a game if it isn't finished/up to best standards. Oh wait, you're all about making money and not a good game. Nevermind then.

I thought ghosts looked good on the xbox one lol I'm actually excited for this game!

They always boast about how their new game has better graphics but, when the game is actually released they all look the same with very minor differences...

Maggardo I wouldn't get Advanced Warfare on Xbox One, I'd get it on my PS4 were I can play with all my friends.

Okay? Why wouldn't you be able to play with friends on Xbox One?
