Star Fox Wii U 'about a year from completion', Miyamoto says

Shigeru Miyamoto says Star Fox Wii U is about a year from completion.

The Nintendo designer touched on the game briefly during an E3 presentation focused on another two of his upcoming Wii U games, Project Guard and Project Giant Robot.

"We have gone into full development and it's progressing well," he said. "We're going to be showing it to everybody as soon as we feel it's totally ready, but we're planning on completing it within about a year from now, so I hope everyone will be looking forward to Star Fox on Wii U."

Miyamoto said earlier this week that a small team had unsuccessfully experimented with Star Fox on Wii for about six years.

"So instead we moved experimentation to the Wii U using some of the same assets," he explained. "It's been maybe 6 to 10 months that we've been experimenting with it."

According to early previews, players control the Arwing with the GamePad's analogue sticks while aiming and firing using motion controls. The ship can morph into a land tank for ground based combat.

Miyamoto's team has also created a new two player vehicle mode. Using motion controls, one player pilots a helicopter-like craft, while the other controls a tiny robot which can be dropped from a tether to be rolled around a limited area in order to retrieve items or attack foes.

There's still a good amount of time before this game releases, but it's good that they're taking their time with it, I'm interested to see how it turns out.

Haha isn't this the game that invented the saying 'Do a Barrel Roll !'

I remember playing Star Fox back in the day. I would always use him in Super Smash Bros.
