Ubisoft may launch a Rainbow Six Siege beta ahead of the game's release next year, according to producer Sebastien Labbe.

Asked about a potential beta, he told OXM at E3 this week: "Maybe a PR will kill me if I say so.

"What I can say is that for sure, we're no different from the other online shooters. We want to be online - we're providing a strong PVP game, and if we want that we need to create a community. So if we wait until the launch, I expect it will be too late.

"There will certainly be things that will occur, but at the moment we can't talk about that," Labbe added. "It's not clearly defined because it's still a lot of work to do, but certainly there will be some announcements about that. So stay tuned."

Ubisoft announced the latest entry in the Rainbow Six series during its E3 conference on Monday.

Set for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2015, Siege is described as a co-op multiplayer-focused game in which enemies have the means to transform their environments into strongholds, while Rainbow Six teams lead assaults to breach them.

Ubisoft has released the gameplay video below, in which one team play as SWAT, infiltrating a mansion in which the other team are holding a hostage.
