Halo development director 'annoyed' by insider leaks

4.6
In a NeoGAF thread discussing Halo leaks and embargoes in general, O’Connor responded to a user praising insiders as “Prophets”, pointing out that “breaking embargoes is not prophesy. Nor does it require any particular skill or insight. Ultimately he is taking or being given information and leaking it, illegally and often erroneously.”

“And he isn’t doing it for some noble or worthy reason. He’s doing it for attention.”

O’Connor questioned what is gained by leaking information. “So you can have a mildly interesting surprise 8 hours early and lacking context?” he said. Spreading false or outdated information leads fans to “get hyped or disappointed disproportionately”, and can damage the efforts and reputation of developers.

“It isn’t prophecy, nor ultimately even important. It’s annoying.”

Horizex 343i ruined halo I could really care less

Ruined? No, not at all. It's different, I like it, but it's certainly not better than Bungies performance level at creating their own game.

They should do more information on people before hiring them and make sure they're trustworthy. I hope some more leaks are coming though. lol

what leaks are they referring to? i take that back.. i honestly don't want to know! i would be annoyed to if i were the halo development director, i bet its a manhunt over at bungie.

I don't blame him for being annoyed about this. Anyway, I prefer not finding out about too much before the game comes out, I prefer being able to experience it mostly on my own.

I like how he's leaking information. It tells us about what the game is going to be like.
