Minecraft Realms goes live in North America

4.5
Mojang has launched Minecraft Realms in North America.

Minecraft Realms is a subscribtion-based private server rental service which lets subscribers set up online worlds accessible only to their friends.

For $13 per month, a subscriber can host sessions with up to 20 players live at once on the Mojang-run servers, which promise to be always available.

The service is currently only available to the PC version of the game, but the developer says it's "planning on releasing it on other formats in the future".

Minecraft Realms is currently available in many regions worldwide including much of Europe, UK, Mexico, South Africa and The United Arab Emirates.

Earlier today Mojang detailed plans for a 'Q2/Q3' release for Minecraft on PlayStation 4 and Vita.

While details on cross-buy and upgrade options are still forthcoming, the studio says it plans to enable world transfer from PS3 to PS4, and possibly also the PS Vita.

Mojang has become Microsoft with this "paid subscription" thing. No one will use this.

I would not pay 13$ for only one month.. that's a bit too much.

AnywayPosted:

i cant understand why anyone would pay $13 a month to host in Mojang Servers?!?

GunsPosted:

13$ a month, i don't know about that who would pay that!

I wonder how that would be on the Vita. It'd probably a lot more fun on a hand-held in my opinion. Than you can play it anywhere anytime.

Gossip You already have to pay for the game so i don't understand why they make you pay for everything else.

Because that's how they make their money:/

It's not that much money anyways so it's still fair

i know, but i would hate to pay for something that should be free.

No. It shouldn't be free. Dedicated servers cost money, so if it's something that Mojang or any other company has to pay for, you'll be paying for it too. They wouldn't be a business very long if they gave stuff out for free...
