Xbox One due to get external data storage support - Major Nelson

3.8
According to Xbox Live's Major Nelson the Xbox One will be receiving support for additional game storage space from external hardware in a upcoming system update. Nelson let this tidbit drop via a recent Reddit comment, "Lots of good work going on to make the console even better - some you'll see soon, some will show up later. External game storage is coming soon." Specifics like how much memory would be supported or even a rough time frame for launch were not given at by Major Nelson at this time but we'll keep you posted of this and all future Xbox One news.

Good. Now I don't need to be afraid of getting games. I've not been buying games because I want to save room for destiny.

Scizor Microsoft will start charging $1/GB for cloud storage soon. Just wait. I can't help but feel putting such a small drive in this considering the size of the updates and games was part of their plan. It's too big of a crippling thing for them to have put in too small of a HDD by mistake.

500GB isn't that small :s, if you had a TB you'd still fill it easily on the Xbox One so storage will ALWAYS be a problem on there.

Considering It's only been 6 months since the console came out and people are already needing more space (Even with such a small game library). I only own 2 games and have installed Netflix and Youtube and thanks to updates and game size I've already used 24% of my space. I really think they should have thought this one through a bit more. Yes a 500GB drive isn't exactly small, but with games averaging 20GB each and regular 1-3GB updates, they should have really used their heads on that one.

Exactly... They should either include more storage with the consoles OR Compress download and installs to much smaller sizes

Good all the games take so much GB's up! Good choice Microsoft.

Axe That would be nice, considering the xbox one only comes with 500 GB of space.

And to download a game its take 499.9 GB

Glad to see that they're doing things to improve the console!

Yeah, and you have to remember after formatting and the OS, you only get around 365GB of space.
