Xbox One Games with Gold service may differ from 360

Xbox One Games with Gold "might not look exactly the way things have looked in the past," according to Phil Spencer.

The service selects two Xbox 360 games for Xbox Live Gold members to download free every month. Spencer, who was promoted on Monday to head of Xbox, told IGN that Microsoft is considering feedback to the program while it works on the Xbox One version.

"The Games With Gold program on Xbox 360 has been successful for us," Spencer said. "It's been part of the value people see in [Xbox Live] Gold, something we recognize that isn't on Xbox One that isn't there today. We haven't announced a plan, but people should understand that we understand the expectation that people have around what the value on Xbox One Gold should be. It might not look exactly the way things have looked in the past, but the recognition that that form of content and that perk for being a Gold subscriber is important to people, something we definitely hear."

Spencer avoided a direct comparison to Sony's PlayStation Plus program, which provides a rotating selection of free games that are playable as long as users remain subscribed. But he said the company is working "to make sure we're trying to match what customers want."

Hitman Absolution and Deadlight will be available free in April through the Games with Gold program.

They should give some of the best games from Xbox One for download but they are only playable for a limited time. That way, if you really like the game, buy it. If you don't you lose nothing.

I hope they push out some good games with Games with Gold service on the Xbox One. Some of the games on the 360, just isn't very good.

Worrying really, but when you think about it there isn't currently a large selection of games to choose from without taking sales away from the publishers. I doubt any of them would be too happy to lose all those sales just because MS said so. And I don't see MS paying them off to keep everyone happy.

I don't know what the answer is.

At the moment the 360 games each month don't go over a combined cost of $30. That wouldn't even buy you Plants vs Zombies. See what I'm saying?

Free DLC would be nice, or 'Xbox Live Tokens', were every-time you buy Gold or Add Xbox Credit, you get the tokens which are added onto the account.
If you save up enough, you would be able to buy something small like DLC.
Or if you had the patience to wait a long time or invest a lot of money into it, maybe even a game such as Minecraft.
Anyway, look forward to seeing what they come up with.

As long as good games will be offered in the future, I do not care.
