4.5
The next generation version of Microsoft's DirectX API was unveiled to an audience at GDC on Thursday in San Francisco. A development manager at Microsoft, Anuj Gosalia, asserted that DirectX will be utilized across all Microsoft platforms. The Xbox One according to Microsoft will perform at least 50% more efficiently regarding CPU usage once DirectX 12 is implemented.

Hopefully this will increase the performance of the Xbox One significantly.

Now I just wonder when DirectX 12 will be added to the Xbox One.

Thlack Finally, less 720p games.... This is awesome. I wonder how much more powerful the PS4 still is? That isn't a "smart" or rude remark either, it's an actual question.

The Xbox was always Faster the PS4 just had better quality now that it has no advantage its not better Microsoft outsmarted Sony.

That's not true at all, after the Xbox stole some of Kinects resources the game was about 40%.
DirectX12 can supposedly increase graphics power by 20%, but in real life examples probably 10-15%.

The PS4 will still be stronger by 25-30%.

You pulled all of those numbers out of your ****. Go get some FACTS or get out.

yeah ROI took the facts from unknown source however PS4 will in fact be still superior because it uses OpenGL and on GDC intel, amd and nvidia found a way to minimise overheads of OpenGL to almost nothing which results in 10-15 TIMES better performance for PC, Linux and now PS4 as well (Higher framerate, Higher resolution etc)

FluffyisEpik "A development manager at Microsoft, Anuj Gosalia, asserted that DirectX will be utilized across all Microsoft platforms."
So does this means on the 360 as well or just all Xbox Ones in general?

Of course not. Why would you even ask.

Maybe you should read what it stated "...DirectX will be utilized across all Microsoft platforms." Why did I ask? Maybe because it says all Microsoft Platforms so I was uncertain if this meant just Xbox One or Xbox One and Xbox 360.

So you think that they'll use it with a almost retired console? Please, just use your common sense.

Oh hey! Maybe the original Xbox will get it too!! Here's hoping!

"almost retired" you're joking right? Many people like you think since a new version came out of the console that they would stop supporting the older versions. Microsoft will keep introducing new features to the Xbox 360 as a lot of people are still on it and haven't moved on to the next gen, but no apparently now that the Xbox One is out everyone is on the Xbox one and the Xbox 360 is "almost retired" Probably the most ignorant thing to say

Last year Microsoft announced it intends to fully support the Xbox 360 until 2016. They would never implement something like DirectX 12 into a product that will shortly after 2016, be almost dead.

Ever since late 2013 the model changed to begin the slow and long process of winding down support for 360. Plenty of games will still come out, roughly 100, but apart from keeping the product connected to Live I wouldn't expect much more.

Take the dash for example, why would they change it now? They probably wouldn't unless it somehow benefitted them in the long run. The same for DirectX 12, even if the 360 could do it, there isn't a whole lot of sense in doing it. Another example, take a 3-4 year old Windows phone, you think that'll benefit or even be considered? No. They haven't even said if Windows 7 will be included.

All of these things add up to the likelihood of a new API being added to the 360 a big fat resounding not likely.

They could if they really wanted to, but like you said it wouldn't make a whole lot of a difference. I asked my question in confusion because it stated that they were bringing it to "all Microsoft platforms which didn't make any sense to me and thought hey maybe they're bringing it to the Xbox 360 as well.
