Microsoft "looking into" Xbox One headset adapter complaints

4.6
Microsoft has acknowledged complaints from gamers using their recently released Xbox One headset adapter, these various issues seem to stem from voice chat functionality on some older headsets. The official Xbox forums and other gaming hubs have been littered with complaints regarding the adapter, the bulk of these issues involve older Turtle Beach and Astro headsets. The various user reports declare that both in-game audio and Skype call work just fine, yet distortion is experience in party chat.

We've heard about a small number of users experiencing intermittent issues. We're actively investigating and are working on a resolution.Microsoft

The Xbox One headset adapter was released this month in order to facilitate Xbox One gamers to utilize their Xbox 360 headsets with their new Xbox console. The device can be purchased from most major retailers for $24.99.

For those who have x42 and the mute problem where you can't hear any chat you have to by a 2.5mm stereo male cable from radio shack or where ever it fixes it works great . The original turtle beach cable doesn't work with the adapters. I paid 2.69 at frys electronic for mine . Hope this helps

YhCHKN I don't see why they couldn't just have the same mic input as the 360 controller.
Just to make more money? Pathetic.

Exactly. The 360 one was perfect.

It seems like they just over complicate a lot of things when it comes to the next gen.

While trying to make them seem more advanced they break them and make them more flawed.

You do not understand at all. The whole change was done to increase the chat quality, which could not have happened if the same old design had been kept. If you get a new console, it is basically expected to have to purchase a new headset for it, not to use an obsolete one.

The whole reason the reason they changed it is because they saw an opportunity to make more money off the thousands of people who have last gen headsets

I'm sorry i didn't know they started a business and made products to not make money

They are selling consoles at half a grand of course they have already made money, they did not need to do this they are just money Wh0res

Again, you have no idea what you are saying. The consoles are $500 at retail stores, but that is nowhere near what Microsoft is elling them to retail stores for. Also, Microsoft is barely making any profit, only $20 or so per console. If you complain about a BUSINESS MAKING MONEY, you should not be purchasing anything at all.

I swear you're the only other person on the site that gets it. Microsoft is one of the largest companies in the world, of course they're going to make as much money as they can.

If a business didn't make money then that business would cease to be a business very fast.

Well if this was to increase chat quality it obviously isnt working. It sounds the exact same as the 360 theyre just making it harder on everyone by adding in the different mic input

The same can be said about Apple's switch from 30-pin connectors to lightning. It was a small pain for some, but was beneficial for all because of the increased productivity and ease of use.

I personally agree with both opinions. Microsoft has been (longer than just recently) putting unnecessarily high prices on their items, but all for-profit businesses know that, in order to make money, they need to add or create something that will attract a buyer. The improvement of the headsets was one of the "attraction improvements" on the controller. Personally, I have noticed a large improvement in the clarity of the sound that comes through the speakers, and the quality of the default microphone, as well. Microsoft succeeded in both improving the quality of the headsets and making tens of millions of dollars.

True but the box could include such an item, if not include them in headsets themselves.
