PSN goes down for 5 hour plus maintenance today

Sony has warned gamers that certain elements of the PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance today for over five hours. This information was garnered from a official post on the PlayStation forums, it went on to detail that the PS Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management will be under maintenance during 16:30-22:00 UK, 08:30-14:00 Pacific Time and 11:30-17:00 Eastern Time. Good news though, if you have signed into PSN since March 6th you should be able to access online multiplayer and third party apps like Netflix during the planned maintenance.

In order to access online game play and partner apps during this routine maintenance, we ask that you please sign in to the network prior to Monday, March 10th.Sony

Miss What I always really liked about their maintenance is that if you're online before it happens, you can still play. Unlike Xbox where it'd probably disconnect you.


Xbox takes their services down one at a time for about 15 minutes each, but they never kick you offline... unless there's a problem with the sign in service, which is fixed in about 10 minutes.
That's one of the perks of being with a bigger SOFTWARE company....
But it isn't too bad for PS users, at least if you sign in before you can stay on.

-Prospective- So we pay 39.99 a year for maintenance at least 2 times a month, cant access party features, cant invite people to games. Sony I think you need to take a leaf out of Microsofts book.


Maintenance helps your subscription and console become a lot better, without maintenance the console will not be as great. Look at it this way you go to an amusement park and the roller coaster is down for maintenance, well if there was no maintenance then the ride would be broken down for months on the end and maybe even close down.


I see your point but they should do it like internet services do and do the maintenance between the hrs of 1 am to 5 am. When there is very little people online and not in the middle of the day.


Impossible, other time zones at 1am to 5 am are like 11pm to 3am.


Not impossible there would still be fewer people online between 11pm to 3am.


I worded it wrong, it is not impossible, but they are not going to change it up for just one person.

Ive never been kicked offline from Xbox live for this long. PS always getting maintenance.

really should be done behind closed doors but 5 hours isnt really that long of a wait just find something else to do you will survive

-LOST- I don't see why they can't work on it behind the scenes and just roll out an update like xbox does. It would save a lot of downtime.

I would have to agree with this, glad I play on the xbox at times like these .. 5 hours isn't too bad though
