Facebook to retire @facebook.com email service

3.9
Facebook started the ill fated @facebook.com email service way back in 2010, it gave users the openness of chatting and sending emails via Facebook Messages. The service never really gained true momentum even while being available to over one billion active users, this stunning failure is not slated for discontinuation. The email service lacked many key features found in other web based email services toted for years; the service was never taken seriously by many.

We're making this change because most people haven't been using their Facebook email address.Facebook Spokesperson

The Facebook email service is set it be phased out in early March with users being informed formally on-site first.

I knew you could get one of these, but I didn't actually know how to make one.

I never knew about this before and even though I know about it now, I still have no clue where to get one.

Thats weird. I have had facebook for about 6 years and never even knew you could get an @Facebook.com email...

Never did use it myself. I can see why it's going away.

I honestly never used the email service that facebook offers. I barely get on Facebook in general anymore.
