Steam Tags - now in beta

3.9
Steam has rolled out a tagging system where gamers can mark custom tags for ANY Steam product page. While this new feature can be effective in sorting the massive amount of content on Steam it easily allows new users to find the exact game they want for their gaming fix.

Steam Tags are multi-lingual, meaning you can add tags in many languages sadly Klingon and Elvish tags are not valid. Steam's addition of Tags is on the heels of last week's "Recently Updated" section which provided us with a "at a glance" glimpse of games that have been updated or received new content from their respective developers. Valve has also made it known that it intends to introduce a Steam Music beta soon that would allow you to play your local library of music files natively through the Steam client while you enjoy some gaming.

I think this will make it a lot easier to search for games, especially if you don't know the name of the game or you are looking for a certain type of game. The only problem I see is that if there is no way to check the tags, members could just put completely bogus tags and then the whole system will be messed up.

daRealRush I don't see why all these websites are getting tags implemented. I don't use or see how tags are useful.

you've used tags before :) theyre basically keywords or target signs for your search criteria , e.g. If you didn't know for example CoD was call of duty and went on steam and searched CoD it would bring up the call of duty games in the search and then from the vague details you would know about it could pinpoint the product your looking into.

another way of thinking about it is Tags being the internet nickname for nicknames of games or slang :)
