Possible negatives of the Xbox One headset adapter

3.8
Not all models of headsets are compatible with the upcoming head adapter, many popular headsets are flatout unusable including even the official Xbox 360 Wireless Headset and the respective Bluetooth variation. Any headset that uses the connector shown in the below is also a NO GO for usage.

A 2.5mm-to-3.5mm adapter cable is included but will only handle chat audio, if you want game audio you need additional cables.

For complete details on the adapter please refer to the Microsoft accessory page for this product below.

Bad decision on Microsoft's part. Absolutely horrible decision. I'm positive people will be buying the PS4 for better mic support.

slapshot101 That just seems like really bad planning on Microsofts part, why won't you be able to use their own wireless microphone? I think that this adapter should work with everything or they should delay it so that it will work with any kind. I guess thats why I keep it really simple and only use the simple Xbox Microphones because they still work on everything.
In theory and in the best interest of everyone, it should work with everything. However, it's like what Apple did with the iPhone 5 models, change the charging port so everyone needs to invest more. Brilliant marketing tactic because it's a luxury people think are a necessity. Do you NEED a great headset? Nope, but people would sure want to carry it over!

I'm not too fond of it but I guess that's why I'm not making big bucks at Microsoft lol

I have a puck talkback cable. I wonder if the shape will fit into the adapter? I wasn't able to use my chat pad on the 360 because there was an extra part on the puck that wouldn't allow it to fit.

HOF
Disc i like the XBONE headset but i really like my astros :/

I know man! It stinks! I wish i could use mine also.

Get the adaptor and you CAN use your Astros!!! Holy smokes. This article needs to be updated with the full details, it's misleading.
These headsets are the ones that WONT work with the new adaptor:

Tritton Warhead headset
Tritton Primer headset
Xbox 360 Wireless Bluetooth headset
Headsets that use the plugin block above in the News Post(picture).

If your headset doesn't fit into those 4 restrictions, it will work!
Headsets with the 2.5mm cable will work like they always have with the included 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack. For example:

Turtle Beach x32's
-Headset chat cable > 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable > Xbox One chat adapter > Xbox One Controller
-Wireless Game Audio "box" > audio source (such as TV Outputs or Xbox One for optical audio) and power source (usually a USB power cable
