Details on Xbox One Games With Gold 'coming soon'

Details on an Xbox One version of the Games With Gold programme may be coming soon, according to Microsoft's Phil Spencer.

The Microsoft Game Studios corporate vice president was asked on Twitter when players could expect Games With Gold to make its way to the Xbox One, to which he responded: "Answer to this will be coming fairly soon."

Originally conceived as a limited-time promotion, before becoming a permanent service, Games with Gold offers Xbox Live Gold subscribers two free games each month. Titles downloaded via the promotion remain in that user's library permanently, and will not be deactivated if players unsubscribe from the Gold service.

The most recent titles confirmed for the initiative are Dead Island and Toy Soldiers: Cold War, which are the two free games to be given away in February.

Dead Island is currently free until February 15, then Toy Soldiers: Cold War replaces it on February 16 until the end of the month.

Microsoft first confirmed in November 2013 that Games With Gold would be coming to Xbox One.

To be fair, they do have quite a lot on their plate.


Making the right moves towards being the better next-gen console is more than a lot on their plate.


Doing a pretty awful job, they lost a huge chunk of consumers. They haven't been friendly to their consumers as of late.

I can imagine the games they would offer for the xbox one. If it's a game from the 360, like skyrim, the graphics would looks so nice.

This is a great thing for them to bring over ad there isn't many games out for the Xbox one at the minute and it also allows you to play the older games :)

not sure what they could possibly give us on the xbox one theres only new games out and we know they wont give us those

I am not really surprised that it has not been released yet, why should it? I mean there are not even 50 games out on the Xbox One. Give it time.

too all the people complaining aboot them taking so long, they kind of need games to be made before they can give them out.... Theres no way they are going to give out the current launch line up for free anytime soon... Unless they first give out like indie games or something..
