Why a realistic Los Santos in GTA 5 would be unconvincing

4.5
One amazing aspect of both last year’s Grand Theft Auto V and its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV, were the size, scope, and detail of each game’s cities

In a recent interview with Edge, Rockstar North Art Director Aaron Garbut commented on the process of building a city, and how it precludes the developers from actually creating a 100% replica of the real thing. “I’d never want to rebuild a city. I think that would be a lot less satisfying both for us to build and for the player to play. In a lot of ways, it would be less convincing, too. At least that’s how I rationalise it to myself,” Mr. Garbut explained, “we take the feel of a city, the one we get through visiting and through experiencing it our whole lives through media, and build that. We compress, we edit, we emphasise certain things and we end up with something that in some ways, I think, feels more like the popular perception of the place than the actual city. Only because the popular perception isn’t the real city, if that makes sense.”

Grand Theft Auto V was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games on September 17th, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Grand Theft Auto Online launched on October 1st, 2013.

Lot I think this is a nice map and could be real

The map is so dynamic it actually feels real.

It feels, real and seems like it could be an actual place

CHP i agree, a game can only be so realistic, cant be 100% or else it would e boring/

I don't find ARMA 2 with ACE and ACRE mods with many other mods with a good realism unit boring.

With games like ARMA 2 it kind of works though, i don't think extreme realism would mix with a game such as Grand Theft Auto V.

-CP I just want a bigger map and whatnot.

You still don't think the map is big enough ? y u make no sense

I think the map was plenty big for Grand Theft Auto V. I would of much liked the option to travel to other regions though

Well the map looks unrealistic due to how fast you can get into a different area within a few minutes.

That's true. But having to spend half an hour driving to get across the map wouldn't make for too fun of a game in my opinion

Yea the map is to big and takes so long to go from one side of the map to the other

The ability to travel to other locations does seem likely, though. Go back to the North Yankton glitch. There's no way they just happen to have it floating there for no reason. It's possible that there soon will be a way to pay for tickets to fly there on the 747 jets. Maybe you can hijack the plane later on and travel to new locations. I have big expectations for this game.

I really do hope that something like this can take place in the franchise. It's something that i have always wanted in open world games yet am very rarely if not never given. I personally think it would be awesome
