Titanfall: quick-scoping & no-scoping are ‘ineffective’, says Respawn

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment has responded to queries about those most debated of shooter tropes; quick-scoping. The studio has labelled the technique and no-scoping ‘ineffective.’

It follows this new Titanfall trailer, showing off the Atlas mech in all its stompy glory.

Now, over on the Respawn forum, one developer wrote, “Sniping is in the game, but due to how the game plays it’s a pretty different animal than you’ll find in your run of the mill modern military shooter. Quick scoping and no scoping are ineffective.”

Quick-scoping is a method of aiming in Call of Duty that sees a player using the game’s auto-aim to zero in on a target for a one-shot kill. It’s not cheating, but it’s notorious for pissing people off, seeing as sniper rifles are powerful, given their history as long range weapons. Using them up close like that – it is argued – upsets the shooter’s balancing. No-scoping on the other hand, is scoring kills without aiming the sniper rifle at all.

It remains to be seen just how sniping will be used in Titanfall. We’ll have to wait until March to find out.

Good. I think every military FPS should be doing this. Quick scoping and trickshotting takes no skill whatsoever. It just takes luck.

Third_Eye On a game like Counter Strike, quick scoping can be effective and skillful. You guys are saying that it takes no experience to quick scope on CoD. That's not true. It actually takes time to learn and master. Then to be able to play in public matches successfully with quick scoping takes more time. I doubt they took qs/ns out. It's just a tactic or playstyle. Just because Titanfall might play another way doesn't mean people can't quick scope / no scope. Quick scoping doesn't even require the auto-aim lmao. It's just a scheme to get people mad.


Quickscoping is not a "tactic", let's get that straight.

It does take a little bit of skill, but it is ridiculously easy and almost always a one shot kill. Plus half the time the people that do it go very negative and don't help out the team and complain about people playing the game properly.


But that's not true to everyone though? I know when I bust out the sniper or black ops 2 I will almost always finish with a 2+ K/D every game, and I play the objective. Just because there is a couple of people that ruin it, doesn't mean everyone that does it is bad.


I wanna know how you don't run into all the bafoons who attempt to quick scope and do horrible game objective wise. A "couple" of people implies that the majority of quick scopers and such are good or better at CoD when in fact it's the opposite. You may be good at it but I can guarantee you at least 2/3 of people that QS have negative K/Ds and don't play the object near enough to justify as a team player.

Call of Duty Quickscoping isn't really that good anymore. So it wouldn't take much to make it better than cod if they wanted too.

pretty much, youtube is far too saturated with call of duty gameplays in my opinion

People will rage that people kill them the way a sniper is meant to be used :/


I could actually see that happening sadly. People will manage to complain no matter what way something is actually used
