Xbox One coined as ‘disc-less’ console for some time, Spencer reveals
Speaking with OXM, Spencer revealed that the notion of a disc-less Xbox One console was on the table until the middle of last year, but was subsequently dropped following Microsoft’s reveal.
He added, “Obviously, after the announcement and E3, there was some feedback about what people wanted to change. There was a real discussion about whether we should have an optical disc drive in Xbox One or if we could get away with a purely disc-less console, but when you start looking at bandwidth and game size, it does create issues.
“So we decided – which I think was the right decision – to go with the Blu-ray drive and give the people an easy way to install a lot of content. From some of those original thoughts, you saw a lot of us really focusing on the digital ecosystem you see on other devices – thinking of and building around that.”
Do you agree that discs are still the way to go for now, or would you like to see a purely digital machine at some point? Let us know below.

CreaturesHax I think it should all just be kept the same to be honest.
Yeah, some people don't have strong enough internet to download every game they own.

CraigyyFozyLuxeDongLuxeLowered I like diskless because i always scratch disks but the games take too long to download
But some people have bad internet so it could take hours and hours to download
Like me, I have some of the worst internet out of anyone that I know.
I know how you feel, I used to be just like that. I dreaded updates
There is pros and cons to every situation, I think it should be like the 360, digital and discs.
Me to, it can take some people a few days to download a game.
You can play the games before they finish the download. You can pretty much play them within a few minutes of the download. I like both digital and physical copies of games, they both have there ups and downs.

KatsumiMafia6k i like disc their just so amazing:D
for now they are pretty convenient seeming that many people have slow internet and things along those lines. In the future they may just become unnecessary though. I understand where Microsoft is going with this
Same, when I had my old internet it was so bad and took hours to download a map pack. Just thinking of having to do that for games would be way worse.
