Naughty Dog's community manager Eric Monacelli has addressed questions about whether the studios critically acclaimed action game, The Last of Us, will be released on Sony's PlayStation 4.

In a post on the European PlayStation Blog, Monacelli was asked if Naughty Dog plans to make the game available for newcomers to PlayStation.

One PlayStation fan asked: "For those of us who jumped on board with PS4 and don't actually own a PS3, will there be any hope to see the Last of Us and its DLC moved over to the new console?"

Monacelli's reply shifted the focus to the next entry in the Uncharted series, yet he didn't entirely rule out a PS4 version of The Last of Us in the future.

"We're just getting our Naughty Dog engine up and running on PS4 as we work on the next Uncharted project," he said.

"We will see what the future brings! :)"

A new Uncharted was revealed during Spike TV's VGX event, during which Naughty Dog co-founder Evan Wells and co-president Christophe Balestra promised it is continuing the series' story driven tradition and has made "a big jump" in visual quality.

"Amy [Hennig, writer of the Uncharted series], Justin [Richmond, game director of Uncharted 3], and the team are hard at work on an amazing new instalment of the Uncharted series to be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 system," Naughty Dog later said in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

During the event Naughty Dog also released a short trailer for 'Left Behind', new The Last of Us DLC which takes place while Ellie is attending a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events in the main campaign The content will pair Ellie with Riley Abel, who was introduced as a close friend to the character during the main campaign.
