Report: Wii U Outsold Xbox One Last Week

The alleged sales numbers for the week of December 21 have been revealed by VGChartz, and, according to the data, the Wii U outsold Microsoft’s Xbox One console globally last week.

As you can see in the chart below, the Wii U sold 319,860 units world-wide last week while the Xbox One sold only 307,366. Of course, neither systems come close to the numbers of the 3DS which sold 1,078,568 units last week to remain the top selling console in the World.

The news of the Wii U outselling the Xbox One is surprising due to the fact that Microsoft’s console is the newer of the two which has more “hype” at this time of the year. The fact that the Wii U sales are on the upswing can only be good news for a console, and a company, with high hopes for 2014.

If you somehow try it without purchasing it before hand that would be recommended. It is really a hit or a miss with certain people


The WiiU just looks weird. Looks hard to get used to. But I'd like to try one to.

That's pretty shocking. May be the fact a Wii is 299 while a Xbox is 499

I do think its cool that you can also play it on T.V :P


Yeah, its fun at times but thats it


I've never played the WiiU. But I'm a master at the Wii Sports game.

Aparlo If never buy a wii so this has surprised me because just don't appeal to me


They are pretty fun at times, but more for younger kids


I go hard on bowling on Wii Sports.

The original Wii appealed to me because of the fact I was still enjoying the GameCube when the Wii came out. I haven't had any experience with the Wii U at all, but I would like to at least give it a try sometime. Just haven't really made the effort to buy one as I have my Xbox 360 and PC that I stick to for gaming. Eventually I'll get around to trying the Wii U out.
