Xbox One is “uncapped”, according to Phil Harrison

4.5
The Xbox One is up and running and Microsoft VP Phil Harrison is excited about what the future holds for Redmond’s newest console.

“When you’ve been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like,” Harrison told OXM. “The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you’d be amazed at the difference. It’s a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with.”

Harrison credits the Xbox One’s flexibility of the cloud and that its potential will be unlocked over time.

“Crucially this time around, there’s the power of the cloud and what that means for game design,” he said. “That can grow and scale indefinitely – of course there is a practical limit but in effect you’re uncapped. And I think, from a player’s perspective, that’s the most exciting part; that it’s not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it’s about what the platform will provide you with over time. We’ve not had that in a console generation before.”

In addition to Game DVR, SmartGlass and Kinect integration, Harrison said that there were five other features in Microsoft’s pipeline ready to come out.

Think of cod 4 and then look at bo2. The changes in both look and how the game plays are huge.

Looks cool. But I'll probably just stick to the 360 for a year or so. Xbox one is too expensive for me.

Solve I'm thinking of maybe picking up an Xbox One later as I already have a PS4.

I don't quite understand why someone would want to have both current generation consoles.. they both pretty much do the same thing and there haven't been many 'stand out' exclusives thus far

Haven't had any troubles with my Xbox One so far. :)
