Xbox One is “uncapped”, according to Phil Harrison

4.5
The Xbox One is up and running and Microsoft VP Phil Harrison is excited about what the future holds for Redmond’s newest console.

“When you’ve been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like,” Harrison told OXM. “The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you’d be amazed at the difference. It’s a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with.”

Harrison credits the Xbox One’s flexibility of the cloud and that its potential will be unlocked over time.

“Crucially this time around, there’s the power of the cloud and what that means for game design,” he said. “That can grow and scale indefinitely – of course there is a practical limit but in effect you’re uncapped. And I think, from a player’s perspective, that’s the most exciting part; that it’s not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it’s about what the platform will provide you with over time. We’ve not had that in a console generation before.”

In addition to Game DVR, SmartGlass and Kinect integration, Harrison said that there were five other features in Microsoft’s pipeline ready to come out.

Bend I really enjoy my Xbox as is, the only issue I have it the crazy confusing invite system they have. I hope that gets fixed soon, OT I can't wait to see what the future in gaming will provide, just imagine the look and feel of games

Debris Microsoft needs to stop lying about the cloud. The fact is, current internet speeds cant truly utilize cloud computing, the cloud can only do very little in the way of lighting and ai. Technology isn't ready for true cloud computing.

No it's called you are a Playstation fanboy and always have been so your brain can't contemplate the awesome things that Microsoft is doing. Lol
How do you even know he owns a playstation, lol. You're stupid.

An example of how they can twist the true number of servers.

This is a great article discussing latency, and how offloading a modern game to the cloud is currently impossible.

There is no need to defend the XB1, i own and enjoy both consoles. I'm just trying to prevent Microsoft from lying to its consumers.

HOF I suggest a price drop. I cant afford to pay $500 for a console.

It just came out, a price drop is extremely unlikely lol

Bottom line is that things come with hard work. If Microsoft think that a little bit of upgrading will bring them up with Sony's PS4... they are most definitely wrong. The Ps4 by far, is the most advanced system at this time and most comparatively to the PC Gamers.Im not sure what they are doing at headquarters, but I'm loving it! Keep this up Sony!
