Xbox One is “uncapped”, according to Phil Harrison

4.5
The Xbox One is up and running and Microsoft VP Phil Harrison is excited about what the future holds for Redmond’s newest console.

“When you’ve been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like,” Harrison told OXM. “The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you’d be amazed at the difference. It’s a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with.”

Harrison credits the Xbox One’s flexibility of the cloud and that its potential will be unlocked over time.

“Crucially this time around, there’s the power of the cloud and what that means for game design,” he said. “That can grow and scale indefinitely – of course there is a practical limit but in effect you’re uncapped. And I think, from a player’s perspective, that’s the most exciting part; that it’s not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it’s about what the platform will provide you with over time. We’ve not had that in a console generation before.”

In addition to Game DVR, SmartGlass and Kinect integration, Harrison said that there were five other features in Microsoft’s pipeline ready to come out.

I suggest a price drop. I cant afford to pay $500 for a console.

Hopefully when I get it, I enjoy using it.

Debris Microsoft needs to stop lying about the cloud. The fact is, current internet speeds cant truly utilize cloud computing, the cloud can only do very little in the way of lighting and ai. Technology isn't ready for true cloud computing.

No it's called you are a Playstation fanboy and always have been so your brain can't contemplate the awesome things that Microsoft is doing. Lol

You're stupid. Please die.

daRealRush The Xbox One is awesome. I wouldn't mind to have one, it's just I cannot afford it at the moment!

It's decent, it's not that user friendly though.
