Xbox One: “Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price,”

PS4 vs Xbox One is a hot ticket right now, and it’s got Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter analysing his way into our headlines once more. Now, he feels the £80 discrepancy between both formats is a significant game-changer that could cost Microsoft the generation.

It follows Pachter’s disbelief at why Nintendo President Satoru Iwata still had a job.

Speaking with GI.biz, Pachter said, “The reason Sony beats Microsoft is solely the price. Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price. If Microsoft drops its price to $399, I expect the sales to be equal to the PS4.”

That’s a short-term fix however, but what about the long-term? Pachter commented on sales projections that state both PS4 and Xbox One will out-sell their predecessors, “I don’t know where they get those numbers. I don’t think you’re ever going to see 500 million consoles out there. The next generation of consoles is probably the last. We expect frequent model updates instead of new consoles. I think the PC is going to make a comeback, the PC will be the hub of all this stuff.”

Honestly whether or not they cut the price doesn't matter to me. I'm buying both the ps4 and the xbox one regardless.

Hammey If you search up fact pubs they cant lower the cost for one reason and one reason only,It cost 479 to buy it otherwise they wouldnt make a profit. The PS4 cost $400 and it cost $382 to make so Sony get a $18 profit. But if read in the near future possibly in January and Febuary they will make a new Xbox One bundle deal that drops the Kinect. If you dont have the Kinect by the way your loosing over 20+ features Skype and the brand new Snap Mode the Kinect 2.0 isnt bad the 1st Kinect was though...
Skype and snap mode can be used by just using the controller as well : / but personally I really like the new kinect and with games in the future that can utilize it I think it can still be a huge success unlike the last one... Even though it had a few fun games lol

I could see that happening, they got the product earlier though (despite paying more) so i don't see any problem with it myself

If they do this I want my 80$ back. Or at least be able to trade is ghosts for ryse. OMG getting killed from behind and from I.E.Ds all **** day long.

I doubt someone is going to change there console over $80 when there spending 500+ on it & i don't think the price is going to go down for awhile now

Why does everyone come to the assumption that Microsoft need to sell their console to make a profit ? No they don't. The original xbox 360's were all sold at a lose. They make their money from game royalties and for their services.

When microsoft sold the original xbox 360's they were selling them at a lose. Why cant they do it again ? They make their money from game royalties..
