Nvidia: “the PC platform is far superior to any console”

4.6
Nvidia’s consumer sales manager Matt Wright has stressed that PC is the gaming platform of choice, and that its functionality makes it “far superior” to consoles. He recognises that some staunch console players may need some extra convincing however.

It follows the UK and European PS4 launch.

Speaking with MCV, Wright said, “We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC. The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings.”

He added that from the outside looking in, PC gaming may appear more complex and technical to the layman, but stressed, “We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers,”

Steam also helps. “Steam now has more users than Xbox Live,” Wright concluded. “There is a whole new generation who grew up playing on PC with titles like Minecraft or World of Tanks. There’s a huge community who love playing their games on PC.”

What’s your take? Are PS4 and Xbox One already obsolete? Is PC the way forward? Let us know what you think below.

Italian PC is better. But I like how I can play a $60 game on a Console that I paid $179, and to play the same game I would need a computer worth at least 500+

This ideology is flawed in my opinion. You spend $180 on a gaming console, but how much did you spend on your computer? You probably threw hundreds on a laptop. Add that to the $180 spent on the console, and you pretty much break even. People who argue the price of PC gaming seem to forget that you can also use your PC as a regular computer, not only as a gaming machine.

I did just buy a $400 Macbook, so I see what you are saying but before this I had an old laptop worth like 100 dollars. So It would still not be enough. And I don't have enough room in my house yet for a desktop/desk and stuff (since I just moved) so after finally making room I would need to buy a desk, desks are not cheap. So add 100-200. And then the desktop and everything else I will need. For me I would have to start from complete scratch except for a case since I have an old Alienware case which I should be able to use. I dont have any software, or monitors. I would end up spending so much more than I do for gaming.

I have my xbox one downstairs and I honestly would rather sit here on my PC then play on my xbox one. Sad but true once you go to PC you can never see a "NEW" console the same way. Even the next gen BF4 graphics are worst than BF3 on ultra on PC. Maybe it is just me but that is actually sad considering for around 500-800 dollars you can build a nice PC that could handle all of the current games with far better graphics then the xbox one and PS4.

It may be powerful. That's the fact behind it, but I just find consoles so much funner. Big tv, recliner, sit back and kick with some friends. It's hard to do that on a pc. Not impossible but you understand. And I hate use keyboard and mouse. If I could use them though I'd defiantly use PC

KV-2 Well superior isn't the right choice of words, powerful would be better. Not everyone can afford a good PC because prebuilts are overpriced and most people don't think they are capable of building one even though it is really easy to do. And when people say cheating is a big issue, servers have admins for a reason. Cheating in Call of Duty gets you banned very quickly, VAC catches up to you fairly quickly. Plus, the mouse and keyboard is WAY more accurate once you know the lingo to it.

I second this really nice detailed view and opinion/FACT

TheChromeFox Well, PC is far superior to console because it can do so much more, but I will prefer console because of controllers. I can't game with a mouse/keyboard.

Oh god your stupidity. You know you can use an Xbox or PS3 controller on PC, right?

Don't be an ignorant *******. He never said that it's impossible to use a controller on PC.

When did I ever say it's not impossible? The kid is acting like he's forced to use a keyboard and mouse. Calm the **** down.

Well if he plays online FPS's then yes he is kind of forced. Anyone using a mouse and keyboard can easily wreck controller players. So if he isn't any good with a keyboard then he's going to be killed a lot online. Maybe that's why he doesn't play PC.

iN1NJA PC is in no way superior to console, it's has gone too far to say that. I am a hybrid gamer PC/ Xbox and I have no bias.. Depending on what game you play on your PC, you're biggest problem is always cheaters. Regardless of what online game you decide to play, there will be cheaters no matter what. I played first person shooters on PC for a while before I grew tired of it and play them on Xbox instead. The most common thing to see in battlefield and cod is aimbot/ wall hack. If you can deal with cheaters in online games, then PC could be the platform for you. There are benefits to PC gaming such as better looking games and a much wider selection of games to choose from, but the cheaters outweigh all benefits in online games (for me at least).

This comment made me cringe up inside.

HitUWithToaster I believe it will take over console gaming because it does a lot more than a console. But consoles are better for competitive gameplay it is easier to control.

The problem is PC Gaming isn't advertised in the media it gets shunted to the back but people started on pc.

If you use a controller on PC their is now Aim-Assist like their is on console.
