CoD: Ghosts the 'most played' multiplayer game on Xbox One & PS4

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the most-played online multiplayer game on Xbox One globally.

So reported Activision in an announcement on Tuesday, citing Microsoft as the source of its metrics. The firm also claimed the title is the "most played PS4 game" in North America, again citing platform holder Sony.

Activision recently said that Call of Duty: Ghosts was the best-selling PS4 game "in retail sales" according specifically to sales at retail chains Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart.

The new announcement on Tuesday made identical claims regarding the Xbox One version at those same specific retailers.

Once again, the firm held off releasing specific sales figures for the title.

"Around the globe, Call of Duty: Ghosts is leading the next generation. It's the #1 selling title at key retailers and it's also the most played game on Xbox One and PS4 globally," said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.

"As we've said before, we've got the best community of fans in the world, and we're thrilled they're coming with us to the next generation."

The company said earlier this month that retailers spent over $1 billion worldwide to secure Call of Duty: Ghosts stock for launch day. While Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said it was "too early to assess" sell-through to consumers, he suggested the game's release came at a time "when the franchise has never been more popular".

that says a whole lot seeing as theres only like 1-2 other multiplayer games lol tell us whats most played multiplayer game in 6 months to a year from now

Well obviously its a great game, but if I had the Xbox one I would be more towards like Ryse or DR3.

its still a COD. Most of the people that are playing are very young. It can be fun sometimes to goof off with some people because its not as complicated as other games int he same genre as that such as Arma 3 and battlefield.

Ghosts is a kids arcade game IMO. Battlefield is a mature strategic shooter IMO. Two completely different types of shooters. People need to get this through their skulls.

Then how come it has more players than BF4?? Just cause you suck at the game doesn't mean it sucks in general you scrub..


Cod is garbage compare to bf4 kid im sorry. it has more players than bf4 because of the history of it, mw, mw2, and mw3 were ok, but ghost is ....blah. in the end the multi player is the same thing. i have both bf4 and cod for XO. Bf4 is simply more impressive as a next gen Game.

Honestly they are completely different games. In my opinion ghosts is better for multiplayer than bf4 on xbox one. I have tried both and I have enjoyed ghosts more. I have tried bf4 a few times trying to get used to it but am not really a fan of the multiplayer. I will say that the campaign is great though.

BF4 have people online as well. It's just COD is a well known game, thus people are going to make it their first game to get on the new consoles.

Sam- Kinda doubt this considering it only has like 20,000 players online.




I'm at the multiplayer menu and I see 284,650 players online RIGHT NOW.
