CoD: Ghosts the 'most played' multiplayer game on Xbox One & PS4

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the most-played online multiplayer game on Xbox One globally.

So reported Activision in an announcement on Tuesday, citing Microsoft as the source of its metrics. The firm also claimed the title is the "most played PS4 game" in North America, again citing platform holder Sony.

Activision recently said that Call of Duty: Ghosts was the best-selling PS4 game "in retail sales" according specifically to sales at retail chains Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart.

The new announcement on Tuesday made identical claims regarding the Xbox One version at those same specific retailers.

Once again, the firm held off releasing specific sales figures for the title.

"Around the globe, Call of Duty: Ghosts is leading the next generation. It's the #1 selling title at key retailers and it's also the most played game on Xbox One and PS4 globally," said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.

"As we've said before, we've got the best community of fans in the world, and we're thrilled they're coming with us to the next generation."

The company said earlier this month that retailers spent over $1 billion worldwide to secure Call of Duty: Ghosts stock for launch day. While Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said it was "too early to assess" sell-through to consumers, he suggested the game's release came at a time "when the franchise has never been more popular".

Seriously. On a weekend around 8pm there's only 45,000 on PS4 and around 4am there's only 1,000. I haven't seen it go over that. I seriously call ******** that COD Ghosts is the most played next gen game lol.


They didn't say it was just the Multiplayer dork, the campaign is counted too

Can't believe people still play Call Of Duty games, its just the same recycled stuff every year. BF4 should definitely be the number 1 played game. I think Elder Scrolls Online will be the most played next year.

3OH3 Ever since MW2 I feel like cod has gone down hill. There's nothing real special about it anymore. It's literally the exact same game every year but with different maps and guns. There's no progression in this series and they don't really make an effort to be the best because they already know they will get huge sales numbers solely because of the name.


There hasn't been any changes because they know we'll buy it anyways.

This is a load of horse shit. Cod Ghosts on xbox one has 20k people on it all the time that is a low number. I don't see how you can tell me that 20k is the highest out of all the games.

Then how come it has more players than BF4?? Just cause you suck at the game doesn't mean it sucks in general you scrub..


Cod is garbage compare to bf4 kid im sorry. it has more players than bf4 because of the history of it, mw, mw2, and mw3 were ok, but ghost is ....blah. in the end the multi player is the same thing. i have both bf4 and cod for XO. Bf4 is simply more impressive as a next gen Game.

Honestly they are completely different games. In my opinion ghosts is better for multiplayer than bf4 on xbox one. I have tried both and I have enjoyed ghosts more. I have tried bf4 a few times trying to get used to it but am not really a fan of the multiplayer. I will say that the campaign is great though.

Ghosts is ********. I bought it at launch and only played it for about a week until it got boring. I went back to the good call of duty games like black ops


Lol i played ghost on the x1 then went straight back to BF4. COD is fun at times but i prefer BF4.
