Xbox One: free game for those affected by hardware issues

4.5
Microsoft will give a free digital game to those whose Xbox One has gone on the blink,, allowing them to get some gaming in even without a functioning optical drive.

The news comes via an email from a Microsoft support representative published by Polygon.

“While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios,” the representative said.

Xbox One digital launch titles include Zoo Tycoon, Powerstar Golf, and Kinect Sports Rivals.

Microsoft has confirmed that a very small number of Xbox One units are experiencing hardware problems related to the optical drive, and promised to “take care” of those affected.

Lia Wow only those 3 games, that's not much of a "sorry".

Its so stoopid, those games are ones you'd never buy with money so it was only a matter of time before they were giving them away...

Axe I thought this was pretty nice of microsoft, until I took a list at the launch downloadable games.

I thought the same thing. Those titles are a joke, they should at least give them something they will enjoy until their replacement consoles are shipped.

Yet they offer the most unpopular, unwanted games I haven't even heard of.

This is a good thing that Xbox is doing. However, the titles they offer aren't that great. I wouldn't be able to play those games for long amounts of time. Or at all.

They're only doing this because no-one is buying the crappy kinect titles from their own will... still better than nothing (hint to Sony)
