Xbox One: MS banning users from Skype and Upload Studio for swearing

4
Xbox One gives you the ability to record your voice to accompany a gameplay clip and upload it to Xbox Live using Upload Studio, and it appears that multiple users have been temporarily banned for swearing in those clips.

Polygon has collated a set of reports from various places, such as the Xbox forums and a Reddit thread suggesting that users were banned for uploading gameplay clips in which they use profanity, it is unclear what is considered profanity. The banned users are unable to use Upload Studio or upload any clips they captured.

Microsoft appears to have lifted the ban for one user on Reddit by the name of MakVolci, he said, ” Okay I got a hold of a Microsoft representative. They’ve told me that my standing is “good” and don’t see an issue with my account – I’m in ‘good standing’.” He later added, ” I hopped on Upload Studio about twenty minutes ago and tried it out. It is now working for me, and I was successfully able to upload my Kinect footage and DVR footage to both Xbox and SkyDrive. It appears as though the Upload Studio suspension is a 24 hour suspension, as I believe it was for me.”

One Twitter user is reporting that he’s not able to use Skype for swearing in a private call, and receiving the following message:

Users who have been banned for using profanity in their Upload Studio clips are also reportedly being banned from using Skype. Polygon has reached to Microsoft for a comment.

That is really stupid. Banning somebody for swearing. If this is the case, then I might not be getting xbox one.

Gotta keep it rated PG13 for your family console :)

The legitimacy of that last one seems highly doubtful considering no one else has reported being banned from Skype to my knowledge. And profanity shouldn't be a problem. If they can detect cuss words in speech, they need to implement some sort of 'explicit flagging' system for footage as opposed to blatant suspensions. Didn't realize this was Club Penguin, Microsoft. If people have an issue with curse words, they shouldn't even have a console. Curse words are widely used whether in public chat or in private chats.

Epilepsies Banned from skype from swearing in a private call... you gotta be joking, is this going to happen on the skype program itself on the computer because that'd just make my day
it never said private call on the screen. Your believing what some random kid posted on twitter, with a picture. He probably posted something using his upload studio, and swore in the process. You guys have to understand. Parents buy this console for there kids. Should they have to worry about you swearing and educating your kids, would you want your kids hearing those words? If you do care about this, I advise you to buy a console rated mature.

Why is Microsoft monitoring private calls? The keyword there is private for Christ sake. Unless a user is reporting another user for swearing in a call there is no reason to have bans for swearing. That is just complete and utter BS. If they are monitoring our calls then I seek a lawsuit.

I can understand them for banning people on the upload studio but lets be honest why the hell would you ban someone for cursing in a skype call with their friends.

Is it just me or does that sentence make no sense.
