Xbox One sales were fast approaching Wii U's lifetime total after just two days of availability in the UK, a new report claims.

Retail monitor Chart-Track said on Monday morning that Xbox One sales were twice as big as those recorded for Xbox 360's launch week.

And an unnamed source has now told trade publication MCV that 150,000 Xbox One units were sold in the UK in the console's first 48 hours of availability, which is "just a few thousand units short of beating the Wii U's total UK sales accrued since its release a year ago this week"

Wii U sales totalled about 40,000 units during the system's first 48 hours of availability in UK.

At the end of Nintendo's second fiscal quarter ended September 30, global Wii U hardware sales stood at 3.91 million units.

Worldwide Xbox One sales topped one million units in less than 24 hours, Microsoft claimed on Saturday.

PS4 launched in North America on November 15 ahead of the European and Latin American PS4 release date of November 29. PS4 sales hit one million units in the console's first 24 hours of availability, according to Sony.
