Xbox One disc drive broken for some users, YouTube videos show

4.7
A handful of YouTube demonstrations show Xbox One disc drives broken in the same way: The console accepts a game disc and then makes an awful skipping sound and doesn't register any game data. One YouTuber, Gabriel Ortiz, compiled a few videos of busted Xbox One disc drives, which he found under the search term "Broken Xbox One."

Seriously? You always wait a few months before you buy a new console. Give the Guinea pigs enough time to find any major errors. 360 went through 3 different versions before they made one that wouldn't red ring.

Dine Thats why you never buy on release day, there is always some type of problem weather its with the ps4 or xbox.

If everyone did that then there would be nobody actually buying the console initially..

A lot of consoles have some sort of launch failure.

ust so everyone knows/realizes... this is pretty much the first console release since the saturation and spread of social media and such (i.e. everyone is easily able to make their voice heard)
I just want to remind everyone that in our world ALL mass produced technological hardware suffer a small percentage of hardware failures. Having some people receive broken disc drives (or blue light of death, PS4 owners) is not a sign that either company pushed a turd out onto the market for the sake of making money. It's an unavoidable fact that we aren't typically aware of because before social media, only the industry average of about 5% were ever affected. Now we hear that small percent. Sony has announced - and people have done the math to find this an accurate number - that they have about .5% initial hardware failure rate. This is actually a great number. Second, DOA numbers don't matter compared to extended time failure (like the RROD, which loomed just over the horizon for nearly everyone, whereas the PS3 was likely to last for the whole lifetime of the console.) Anyway, just for comparison, Apple has released laptops with 18.1% failure rate in the past....soo..... yeah. Food for thought. BTW, I'm not saying anything good or bad against microsoft or sony, just that this isnt anything to flame shit over eachother on.

TL;DR all hardware everywhere has a small percentage of bad hardware, DOA consoles are sad, but inevitable, as long as they replace them and they last, this isn't anything different than absolutely everything we deal with everywhere in the hardware world.
