White Xbox One charity auction raises $11,300

4.6
A black Xbox One costs $500, but a white Xbox One sets you back $11,300. No, Microsoft isn't going with an ambitiously priced second SKU, but the much nicer story of an eBay user stumping up the cash for the normally employee-only console, with proceeds going towards the Wounded Warrior Project.

Microsoft's charity auction ended yesterday evening, after the bidding sat at $11,100 across a number of days. Then, with hours to go a new user snuck in to snatch up the limited edition console. He or she will receive their new, shiny white console when everyone else gets their boring black ones this Friday on November 22.

There's at least one other member of the public due to receive a white Xbox One, but over in the UK. Another white Xbox One was auctioned over there earlier this month, raising £5,000 (around $8,000) for charity organization GamesAid, which is passing on the money to a number of small UK charities for children and young people.

Lia Damn! The white Xbox looks so much nicer. I hope they release this to the public in the future, I'd definitely want the white Xbox case.

I would bet on it being another year or two until they release a while model on the market. I could be wrong though

I'd guess around 3 years minimum, makes it a little more special to the creators the longer it's off public hands.
If I was an employee, I would sell mine on Ebay, hands down. Some of the lowest ranked employees most likely get paid around the $30,000 mark. Why not cash in an extra $10,000?

You most likely wouldn't get any where near the 10k mark to be honest.
This one was for Charity and the console, it was for a good cause. You'd probably only get a max of 1.5-2k for it if you sold it without a good cause.

Cokes Lol, "boring black console". Personally, I wouldn't think a white xbox one is too exciting nor would I ever pay 11,000 for one. I guess the charity part weighed in a lot too.

I like the white controller it looks way more sexier.

I think this idea is cool, it's kinda disappointing that these limited internal editions aren't fetching more at charity auction.

If I was a millionaire, hell yeah, I would...

Good to see these are being sold to charity, these have extremely high demand!

Caszech It's nice how they did this for charity.

It is indeed. Better going to charity and helping people rather than Microsoft employees wages.

I'd like the White Xbox more than the normal black Xbox. Hopefully they do release it to the public.
