Minecraft gets Twitch with new partnership for integrated streaming

4.5
Twitch and Mojang have partnered to deliver an integrated streaming experience in indie sensation Minecraft, the companies announced at MineCon today. Players on PC and Mac with a Twitch account will be able to easily stream their games to their Twitch.tv channels "soon," according to a press release.

Matthew DiPietro, vice president of marketing at Twitch, said in the same press release that Minecraft has "struck a very powerful chord" with Twitch users. "Its constantly escalating popularity illustrates that people love to watch video games outside of the headline-grabbing eSports titles. Expect a watershed moment for both players and spectators once the ability to easily broadcast gameplay directly to Twitch goes live."

While this announcement is for PC and Mac users, it's important to note that the Xbox One will be getting its own version of Minecraft, and Twitch is integrated into Microsoft's next-gen system. So the possibility is there for Twitch streaming from a console version of the game.

NHRA HOLY CRAP, that'd be freaking sick! Just depends on how the quality is going to look.

That is going to depend on internet speed and computer hardware.

I hope they make it where it doesn't require such good hardware to be able to stream without lag.
Otherwise there is going to be a overwhelming amount of lagging streams.

Lavish This doesn't surprise me. When Mojang did events in their offices they used Twitch to stream.
I think this feature is going to be good but the Minecraft streaming section on Twitch is going to be flooded with little kids wanting to stream.

I agree, it will give the opportunity for many talented people to stream as well though. The Cons are balanced out by the Pros in my opinion

I don't think so at all.
The Minecraft section is going to be flooded with laggy streams from people with bad PC's and bad interent thinking they can stream no matter their rig or internet speed.

I think a lot of cool things could be made from this.

Gossip I dont think this will be as big as everybody thinks. Your going to have a whole bunch of people streaming Minecraft on Twitch and half of those streams won't even be watched..

It is more the convenience matter that everybody is going on about. Having twitch integrated into Minecraft will just make everything well... easier.
